Note: Remember that you can only record Google Meet calls using your computer.

How to Find Google Meet Recordings on Google Drive

When your meeting ends, the recording is automatically saved to Google Drive, under your ‘Meet Recordings’ folder. Here’s how you can find your recorded video:

1. Go to Google Drive and sign in to your Google account.
2. Click ‘Go to Drive’.
3. On the left panel, click ‘My Drive’ then select the folder entitled ‘Meet Recordings’. 
4. Locate the recording, click the three-dotted icon (⋮) then select ‘Download’ to save it on your computer.

How to Share a Recording from Google Drive

1. Go to Google Drive and sign in to your Google account.
2. Locate the recording that you wish to share.
3. Click the three-dotted icon (⋮) then select ‘Share’.
4. Enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the recording with.
5. Hit ‘Done’.

How to Find Google Meet Recordings on Google Calendar Event

You can access the recording directly from the Google Calendar event if you were a Google Meet participant and work for the same organization as the host. Here’s how:

1. Log in to your Google account and go to Google Calendar.
2. Locate and open the Google Calendar event.
3. Click the file attachment to view the recording in a new tab.

How to Find Google Meet Recordings via Email Inbox

If you are the meeting organizer or initiated the recording, you will receive an email with the recording link. It has meeting id and the text "The recording has been uploaded".

1. Log in to your Google account and click the email from Google Meet.
2. Click ‘Open in Drive’ then hit the play button.
3. If you wish to download the file, click the download icon on the upper right side of the screen.

Troubleshooting Issues with Google Meet Recordings

Why can’t I find my recordings on Google Drive?

According to Google, it can take up to 24 hours for a recording to be processed depending on how long it is. If you cannot locate your recording, we suggest checking back after a few hours.

How can I tell if Google Meet is recording my screen?

A red button will appear on the left-hand side of your screen to indicate that the recording has already started.

Why can’t I record a meeting? I was able to do it last time.

There are several reasons why this is happening:

• It is possible that the admin has turned off Meet recording. Make sure that they turned on recording for video meetings.
• Make sure you’re still on a paid Google Workspace plan.

What happens if I forget to stop the Google Meet recording?

If this happens, the recording will automatically stop when everyone exits the meeting.

Why can’t others download the Google Meet recording?

If this happens, check your settings to make sure permissions are granted. Here’s how:

1. Go to Google Drive.
2. Choose the recording file and select ‘Share’.
3. Click ‘Advanced’ on the bottom right.
4. Uncheck "Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers".
5. Click ‘Save Changes’ then ‘Done’.
