Meetings can be a productive way to collaborate, share ideas, and achieve your team’s goals. However, taking notes during a meeting can be time-consuming and distracting, affecting the quality of the discussion. Notion, a popular productivity tool, has recently introduced AI features to help streamline meetings and improve the note-taking process.
In this article, we’ll explore what Notion AI can do and how you can use Tactiq, an alternative tool that integrates with Notion, to create meeting summaries effortlessly.
What Can You Do with Notion AI?
Notion was first launched in 2016 as a note-taking app and has since evolved into a comprehensive productivity platform with a wide range of features and integrations. I’ve been using it since 2018, mainly for managing tasks and building databases for remote teams. As a freelance writer, it’s like my second brain! In February 2023, Notion AI was released to everyone after being in beta for months. With its built-in AI features, you can accomplish more things in less time.
Here are 4 ways you can use Notion AI:
Summarize any content: Got a long meeting transcript? Easily summarize the content and instantly create tables and tags.
Translate content: Managing teams worldwide is easier when you can translate content into any language.
Brainstorm or plan new ideas: If you’re a content manager, it can help you generate new campaign ideas and speed up the research process.
Edit your work: Once you’re done with your content, you can use its built-in spelling and grammar correction features.
These are just the four basic ways to use Notion AI. There are more advanced features, especially if you’ve been using Notion for a long time. You can even write full blog posts and marketing plan! It’s a huge time saver for content creators and managers.
How to Use Notion AI for Meeting Summary
It’s no secret that meeting takes most of our time weekly. While meetings seem a one-step task, it’s actually more complex because you also have to:
Prepare the presentation and agenda items before the meeting.
Take notes during the meeting.
Review your notes and transcript to ensure you don’t miss anything after the meeting.
Thanks to Notion AI, you can now summarize any text almost instantly. Here’s how you can start using Notion AI to summarize meetings:
Make sure that you have the full transcript. Check your transcript and caption settings for your video meeting tool.
Once you have the transcript, you can copy and paste it anywhere on Notion.
Use the “space bar” to enable the AI and choose the different commands.
Wait for the summary.
You can click “Done” if you are satisfied with the summary. You can also make the summary longer or try to generate a new one.
Notion AI is super easy to use. You can choose the built-in commands or type in your own. Typing in your commands simply means telling what you want Notion AI to do. For example, “Rewrite this summary in a friendly tone.”
How to Use Tactiq with Notion AI for Meeting Summaries
This is where Tactiq comes in. Tactiq is a real-time transcription tool that integrates with Notion. The main benefit of using Tactiq with Notion is that it’s built specifically to help you be more productive before, during, and after your meetings.
With Tactiq, you can:
Get access to real-time transcripts in your Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams meetings.
Auto-highlight any statement categorized as a question, callout, decision, or task.
Instantly summarize the meeting, generate the action items, and prepare the next meeting agenda.
Tactiq integrates with GPT-3, so you can instantly summarize everything right after your call. But you can also integrate Tactiq with Notion. Here’s how it works:
Go to your Transcripts section in Tactiq.
Access the transcript that you want to bring in Notion.
Click on “Share” and choose Notion.
Connect Notion with Tactiq.
Once connected, you can choose a page to house your transcript.
Tactiq will generate a Notion link. It’s automatically copied.
Paste the link to another browser to go directly to the Notion page.
And that’s it! You’ll have your full transcript as a full Notion page with all the details. You can learn more about the step-by-step process in our Knowledge Base.
Now, you can go over the steps of summarizing in Notion as we discussed above. Here’s the summary of the full transcript:
As you can see, the summary is written in a paragraph with 3-5 sentences. You can type in, “Rewrite this in bullet points.” I personally like bullet points, as it’s easier to see everything at a glance.
How to Use Tactiq’s AI Summary
If you want to save a few steps, you can use Tactiq’s built-in AI tool to summarize your call. It’s so easy!
Install Tactiq on Chrome. It’s free!
Join your call as usual. The Tactiq window will appear, where you’ll see the real-time transcript.
After the call, you’ll get an email once your transcript is ready.
Simply click on “Generate AI summary.”
It’s a one-click step! I usually send the summary to my clients or team right after the call, especially when we’re on a tight deadline. I also transfer the full transcript to Notion at a later time, so my team has all the documents in one place.
Is Notion AI Free?
Yup, Notion AI is free for everyone to test out. If you like all the AI features, it costs $10 per month as an add-on. You can also ask Notion’s customer support for discounts. Early-stage startups, students, and non-profit organizations can usually take advantage of special discounts.
You might not need the Notion AI feature as much if you already have other AI tools like ChatGPT and Grammarly. However, if you like to keep your existing workflows on Notion, then Notion AI might be the right upgrade for you.
Here’s a great price comparison:
I’ve been a long-time Notion and Jasper user. So, before Notion AI was available, I had been using other AI tools. I don’t intend to upgrade to Notion AI, as I already pay for ChatGPT Plus. And, and course, I have Tactiq for all of my meeting needs.
Is Notion AI using GPT-3?
Notion's AI tool is powered by OpenAI's GPT-3 technology, a state-of-the-art natural language processing model capable of understanding and generating human-like language. GPT-3 is known for its ability to generate coherent and natural-sounding text, and it has been used in many applications, including chatbots, language translation, and content generation.
As you know, GPT-3 is the main technology that powers ChatGPT. If you want to try ChatGPT, but don’t like the chat interface, then Notion AI is perfect for you. You’ll get the chance to try what the technology is capable of but within the Notion interface.
