How to find your channel meetings on Sharepoint

Channel meetings are meetings that happen within a Teams channel. They are stored in a Recordings folder in the channel’s Files tab. All files are stored in a SharePoint site for the channel. Everyone who is part of the channel can edit or view the recording.

The recording will automatically upload to your channel once the meeting is over. These recordings are accessible to anyone in the channel, even those who were not invited.

To locate your recording for channel meetings, follow these steps:

1. Go to Microsoft Teams and locate your specific team and channel.
2. Open the channel and select Files from the navigation bar on top. 
3. Open the Recordings folder and locate your recording.

How to find your non-channel meetings on OneDrive

You can find non-channel meeting recordings from the OneDrive directory of the person who started the recording. It will be in the Recordings folder. Only the meeting organizer and the person who started the recording can edit it. But all meeting participants have permission to view it.

Non-channel meetings are also called standard, personal, or private meetings. These meetings are not part of an existing channel and are private for meeting attendees.

How to Fix Common Issues with Locating Teams Recordings

How do I retrieve an expired recording from Microsoft Teams?

Good news! When your recording expires, it will move to the recycling bin, so it’s not lost forever. You will receive an email notifying you of this change. You also have a limited time to restore these expired videos before they are permanently deleted. 

The admin sets the amount of time the recording will be available, but you can change or remove the expiration date of a recording.

It’s easy to restore a recording. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Go to the email entitled, “Your Teams meeting video has expired and is now deleted.” Click the Go to Recycle Bin button.
2. From the Recycle bin, select the video recording you want to restore.
3. When you select the file, the Restore button will appear. Click it.
4. You will now find your recording restored to its original location.

Why can't I find my Microsoft Teams recordings?

While Teams meeting recordings were originally saved to Microsoft Stream, since early 2021, all recordings are stored in either SharePoint (channel meetings) or OneDrive (non-channel meetings). We discussed how to find these earlier in the article.
